  • "FGF is truly the future in Farming! This young, motivated group of farmers, interns, and WWOOFers have drive, and are motivated to educate and involve the community with hands-on participation and opportunities. I was so inspired through work and experiences at this farm! The team-work feel at this farm is strong! The accommodations are fun and comfortable. Barbara welcomes you into her home and family with warm, heartfelt meals. You leave First Generation Farmers full of row-crop knowledge, progressive "I Can Change the World" inspiration ,and motivation to make a difference in the process of growing your own food!"

  • "In one short year, the founders of FGF have distinguished themselves as “visionaries.” With boundless enthusiasm and social media skills, the FGF team has built a significant following. Excellent computer and research skills have made it possible for FGF’s new farmers to access and absorb tremendous amount of information about farming and nonprofit operations. Those watching FGF’s evolution most closely note that FGF is growing and becoming more aware, focused and smart about what they’re doing. “FGF is learning and evolving.“ Kathryn Lyddan BALT Executive Director"

  • "I had the pleasure of staying at FGF for about 3 weeks in April and what a joy it was! Barbara and Bob are so welcoming and generous with their space. Barbara made delicious meals with the veggies from harvest and I was always very full! Harvest days and market days were among my favorite times at FGF. Getting to talk to people about organic produce and letting them pick the price was a beautiful thing to experience. Nikki is an absolute dream. She is a positive, warm, and strong woman who can make everyone feel at home. It was great to be around such hard working people who believe in what they are doing. I met so many wonderful and long term friends at this place and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to learn, work hard, and experience good community. This family is truly passionate about giving young farmers opportunities and an education, which in my opinion is a high calling indeed. I cannot say thank you enough!"

  • "First Generation Farmers is home. I went there not knowing what to expect but what I found was so rich. The people made my experience the most fulfilling. CMO is the man, you just cant be in a bad mood when your around him, too many smiles. And Barbra is such a great host and cook !! everyone I met here brought something different to the table but all the same, love, support teamwork and community. The work we did was so full circle too. What we did in the fields we got to see where it went and the smiles on peoples faces at the market. The WWOOFers really do take care of everything on the farm which I really enjoyed and still got an ample amount of time to chill in the afternoons. SO MUCH LOVE HERE XOXO"

  • "My first WWOOF experience at First Generation Farmers was far better than I could have imagined!!! I stayed from mid-June through mid-July and everyone was so welcoming and friendly. Before FGF, I had minimal, small-scale farming experience and that wasn’t a problem at all. The work was rigorous, but not too strenuous, and we always had a great time in the fields. Every day I learned something new about myself, about farming, about community, etc. Christian/CMO has a huge heart and is a great leader. He always communicates how appreciative he is and he makes each day in the fields entertaining and fun. Alli is also a strong leader and her vision of teaching young people how to farm organically and sustainably is inspiring and empowering. She is open-minded and open-hearted and it was amazing to not only see such an abundance of creative energy and teamwork, but to be a PART of, such a successful project. Barbara and Bob were excellent hosts! The accommodations were super comfortable and there was always enough food (including eggs from FGF’s own free-range chickens and veggies, of course). We ate delicious home-cooked lunches AND dinners 3-4 times a week and Barbara put so much love, energy, and effort into them. It was wonderful to enjoy all of our own veggies. Plus, being able to swim in the pool after being in the fields was a fantastic end to the workday! Niki is such a sweetheart and working with her was a blast. She is a confident and funny woman with a dynamite personality who made me feel at home and part of the farmily. Everyone is a hard-worker -- they love what they do and do it well. I got to learn how drip irrigation works, how it saves water, and is much more efficient for crops. In addition to this, I learned a lot about composting: FGF uses a several step process to turn food waste into homemade soil in just TWO WEEKS! It was so impressive. In addition to this, they also implement Vermicompost and Compost Tea. We would go to farmer’s markets at least 5 times a week. It was really cool to showcase our organic produce and teach the public about FGF’s goal and mission. It was very cool to be a part of Farmer to Consumer exchange versus Farmer to Companies to Consumer. I am so grateful to have cultivated an interest for organic and sustainable farming while spending time with new friends and sharing experiences that will last a lifetime. I would highly recommend FGF to anyone wanting to learn about organic farming with an incredible group of people. First Generation Farmers rocks! :-)"

  • "Absolutely love what this group does for the community! I was saddened to hear that when they do the Concord Market they haven't been getting the funding they deserve with their generous "take what you need, pay what you can". Please locals support this farm so they can keep coming our way! However I will follow them in Brentwood the produce is THAT delicious! They treat customers like extended family. Love that about them!"

  • "I had one of the most truly amazing experiences in my life with First Generation Farmers. I had the opportunity to learn about sustainable agriculture, get my hands dirty in the plot, help design and update the website and media platforms, and participate in fundraising efforts, which was a pleasure and gave me a different insight into the challenges of agriculture in the USA. It was my first wwoofing experience and also my first cultural inmersion in an American farming community. I must say that First Generation Farmers set the standard really high. A big thanks to the incredible and lovely Cecchini family, who made us feel like we were at home."
